The Pacific Collegiate School (PCS) Board of Directors is seeking energetic, committed individuals interested in applying for Board service for the upcoming term.

Serving on the Board is a valuable way to:

  • Support a high-performing public charter school

  • Advance PCS’s mission to expand access to college-preparatory education in Santa Cruz County

  • Contribute your skills and experience in service of students, families, and educators

The Board is responsible for ensuring PCS meets the goals of its mission and vision by providing financial, strategic, and policy governance. Please note that Board service is a working role with an anticipated time commitment of approximately 20 hours per month.

The PCS Board considers applicants from all backgrounds. Nominations Committee decisions are guided by the need to fulfill specific functional areas on the Board, including:

  • Parent & Community Engagement
  • Finance & Budget Oversight
  • Development & Fundraising

  • Human Resources / Employee & Labor Relations
  • Organizational Operations & Risk Management

📅 Nominations Process

  • Applications will be accepted through Thursday, February 12, 2026
  • The nominations committee will review submissions and notify selected applicants by February 20, 2025
  • In-person interviews will be held at PCS during the evening of Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Following interviews:

Successful interviewees will be notified and their candidacy for provisional Board service will be voted on at the April Board meeting. Each provisional Board member must serve a provisional period of approximately 3-4 months, during which time both the Board and the provisional member have the opportunity to assess if PCS Board service is a best fit. 

Provisional Board members are non-voting members of the Board, however provisional Board members are expected to fully participate in all other Board activities. The sitting Board will vote at the August meeting on the acceptance of each of the provisional members to serve as full members of the Board.

  2. 📘 Curriculum vitae or resumé, including references

🤝 Ways to Participate (Even If You’re Not Applying)

If you are not able to serve on the Board yourself, you can still support the process by:


  • Submitting nominations of potential candidates.

  • Suggesting interview questions or topics you believe are important for Board service.

  • Volunteering to assist with interviews, such as greeting and escorting candidates on interview day.
