The Pacific Collegiate School (PCS) Board of Directors (Board) is looking for energetic, committed individuals interested in applying for Board service. Board service is an excellent opportunity for community members to become actively involved in enhancing and overseeing a high performing public charter school with a unique mission to expand opportunities for college-preparatory education within our county.
The Board is responsible for ensuring that PCS continues to meet the goals of its stated mission and vision by providing financial, strategic, and policy governance. Applicants should be aware that the Board is a working, actively engaged body with an expectation of 20 hours per month commitment.
The PCS Board considers applicants from all backgrounds, and Nominations Committee decisions are guided by the need to fulfill specific functional areas on the Board. Current functional areas of strategic interest to the Board are:
- Parent and Community Engagement
- Development
- Strategic Communications
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access
- Survey Design, Administration, and Data Analysis
- Education, Labor, Employment, and/or Business Law
- Governance and Leadership
Nominations process: Applications for early consideration are due at 11:59pm on August 18th, 2024. All applicants must submit a complete application packet no later than 11:59pm, August 25th, 2024to be considered for an interview. The nominations committee will convene to review all applications and will notify those applicants which will be invited for an in-person interview no later than August 31st. All interviews will be conducted at Pacific Collegiate School on Thursday, September 19th, between the hours of 5pm and approximately 10pm, with a single interview slot per candidate of roughly 1.5 hours. Successful interviewees will be notified and their candidacy for provisional Board service will be voted on at the October Board meeting. Each provisional Board member must serve a provisional period of approximately four months, during which time both the Board and the provisional member have the opportunity to assess if PCS Board service is a best fit. Provisional Board members are non-voting members of the Board, however provisional Board members are expected to fully participate in all other Board activities. The sitting Board will vote at the February meeting on the acceptance of each of the provisional members to serve as full members of the Board.
